About Us

Crosswalk got its start by God in the hearts of five families that felt the call for an authentic church whose heart was to please the heart of God.

In the fall of 2000 these families began meeting and praying in a home. We simply asked God to show us what this new church was supposed to look like. By February, of that same year, the church called John Wright as pastor in a full time capacity. July 2, 2001 we launched our regular Sunday morning services at Astronaut High School. Five years later, we moved to a location downtown, Titusville at 317 S. Washington Avenue (directly behind Sunrise Bread Company).  In the spring of 2010, we found ourselves moving again. This time in a building with about 2.5 acres located at the west end of Garden Street (77 N. Carpenter Rd to be exact).  Our Lord provided a way for us to purchase the building.  He has blessed.

That's where we're at today. Plans are to seek God's heart and will as to whether that's where we'll stay.  We are reminded that God's ways are not our own so for now, we'll stay put and look for a word from God, himself.

Lead Pastor John Wright

John was born April 29, 1964, in Oakland California.  He graduated from Word of Life Bible Institute in Schroon Lake, New York in May 1984 and the Word of Life School of Youth Ministries in May 1985.  John received his Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Florida Baptist Theological College, Graceville Florida in July 1995.  He was licensed to the ministry in December 1984 by Orange Avenue Baptist Church, Fort Pierce Florida and ordained by Southside Baptist Church of Fort Pierce in November 1987.  He is married to Ms. Brenda Lee (Matthews) Wright and they have two Children, Aaron and Olivia.

John served in youth and music ministry from 1985 until he came to CrossWalk in 2001.  His most recent previous position was as Senior High Youth Minister with Park Avenue Baptist Church, Titusville.  John's experience with youth has given him a deep appreciation for the crucial role discipleship plays in building a group of believers.  His passion for music has taught him much about the value of praise and worship in building communion with God.  His experience with life has taught him far more that either, however.  John has dealt firsthand with deep personal loss and knows what it means to depend completely on God despite pain and circumstance.  "My passion is to know God and make Him known."  Humble words from one with the experience, talent and capability John brings to CrossWalk.

Pastor Dave Ivey

Pastor Dave was born in Mississippi, raised in Kentucky and went to college at Louisiana State University where he received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering.  He worked 10 years for Lockheed Aerospace at the Kennedy Space Center.  In 1993 he and his wife opened up a full-service travel store and operated it for 10 years.  In 2003 he attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he earned his Master’s in Divinity.  He accepted Christ as his personal Lord & Savior at University Baptist in Baton Rouge where he was also baptized.  Later he was licensed to preach at Cocoa Beach Baptist and ordained at Coastal Community Church, a church he helped organize and start.  His major spiritual gift is teaching and he employs that gift at Crosswalk Community Church at the present time.

Pastor Dave currently works full-time as a Brevard County Public School teacher and coach.  His favorite pastime is coaching young men the game of football so they become outstanding and productive citizens.

He has been married to his beautiful wife, Jonsie Ivey (Keen), for 23 years.  Together they have two wonderful children, Micah (18) and Kaylee (16).
